Watonga - 2002 Blaine County Ag Hall of Fame
    award sponsored by First State Bank, Watonga

Martin Stevenson and his wife, Aniebel, parents to Neysa Laux, Florida; Rhonda McClure, Texas; Jay Stevenson, Sand Springs, and Sandra Zink, Stillwater, as well as 3 granddaughters, are life long supporters of youth activities. They continue to support livestock shows and youth, even though their children are now grown.

Martin is a graduate of Greenfield School and OSU. He has been engaged in farming-ranching his "entire life" and is a member of Blaine County Livestock Boosters $1,000 Club. He raises alfalfa and wheat generally for graze-out or hay. They raise Bermuda, rye grass, fescue and wheat grass as well as Beefmaster bulls and cows. Maine-Anjou and Simmentals are utilized in cow-calf and stocker-feeder operations. Minimum tillage practices, and rotated grazing are some of the conservation techniques utilized. Bermuda is over seeded for spring pasture.


Martin is a member of Blaine County & Oklahoma Cattlemen's Assns, Blaine County Mineral Owners and a longtime supporter of 4-H and FFA, especially livestock shows and fairs. The Stevensons support church youth groups and the Kiwanis Summer Youth Program. Two and 1/2 acres of land were donated to Watonga Ag Youth Foundation which includes a farrowing house. Beef and agriculture supplies are donated to Watonga FFA for fund-raisers. Martin often supplies the trailers for Main Street activities, parades and Fourth of July celebrations as well as supports band and Boy Scouts activities.


Okeene - 2002 Blaine County Ag Hall of Fame

Dale Seelke and his wife, Arneda, live on and own 40 acres of the farm that his great-grandfather homesteaded more than a century ago. They are the parents of Mark and Matthew and the grandparents of four. The 52-year farmer raises wheat, alfalfa, Bermuda and Shorthorn-Limousin cross cow-calf herds. Dale presently farms 465 acres of wheat, 60 acres of alfalfa and 250 acres of pasture. He is a firm believer in conventional tillage with a sound fertilization program.


Dale is a graduate of Okeene High School. He has received the Soil Conservation award. Memberships include: Farm Bureau, Federal Land Bank, Okeene Sooner Coop., Ames Coop., Oklahoma Cattlemen's Assn., St. John's United Church of Christ. He has held various offices at the church and has served as pianist for the past 20 years.
Geary - 2002 Blaine County Ag Hall of Fame

Mark Strack and his wife, Jackie, have one daughter, Tabbitha Kiener. Mark has farmed more than 30 years and also taught agriculture at Greenfield. Mark grows wheat, alfalfa and raises Brangus and Angus cow-calf and stocker-feeder hers on an 800-acre operation.

Mark is a graduate of Watonga High School and received his BS in agriculture education from OSU.


Eagle City - 2002 Blaine County Ag Hall of Fame

Loren Cox and his wife, Mary, are the proud parents of Lou Ann Wooley, Canton; Alan Cox, Canton; Joyce Barclay, Lake Charles, LA; Bryan Cox, San Antonio, TX; and Mark Cox, Canton as well as ten grandchildren.

A 53 year agriculture veteran, he grows wheat, grass, hay and raises Polled Herefords and Hereford-Angus crossbreeds for cow-calf herd. Minimum tillage is utilized and plans are to build more terraces and water control structures. Intensive grazing is used to reduce labor. Plans are to plant more grass to store winter feed in the field to reduce hay feeding.


Loren operated Cox Fertilizer & Water Well for many years. He was Phillips Petroleum salesman of the year five times; IMC top salesman and has received the Phillips Petroleum safety awards and the Blaine County Soil Conservation award. He has served as an Eagle City volunteer fire fighter. Loren was educated at Eagle City High School & SWOSU. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Current memberships include Eagle City Christian Church and OFU.

Loren has always enjoyed helping people, giving young farmers advice, and loaning equipment while being modest and humble.


Watonga - 2002 Blaine County Farmer/Rancher of the Year

Terry Privott and his wife, Anita, live in Watonga. However, most of the farming operation and cattle are located in Kingfisher County where Terry travels each day. He runs a cow-calf operation and in most years runs stocker cattle as well. His farming operation consists mainly of Jagger and Pioneer Wheat. In addition to his wheat, Terry also grazed his cattle on Native and Bluestem Grass. To supplement his cattle and farming, Terry does custom hay baling and swathing. Anita is a long time employee of Pioneer Telephone Company and assists Terry with the farming and cattle.


Terry and his father, Eugene, formed a partnership which lasted over 20 years. The partnership was recognized as Privott Farms. Throughout the years they purchased cattle, bought real estate and shared in the daily hard work of farming life. Terry's father and farming partner passed away 2 years ago. Since that time, Terry has asumed the responsibilities and decision-making of Privott Farms.
Okeene - 2002 Blaine County Farmer/Rancher of the Year

Mark Huhman and his wife, Virginia, are the parents' of Donna Marie Huhman, Chris and Tim Sturgeon and Barbara and Lance Williams. They also have three grandchildren.

A 35-year farmer, he is a member of the last graduating class from St. Mary's Catholic School in Okeene. He participated in four years of farm management courses at Autry Vo-Tech, Fairview.


Mark raises wheat, Bermuda, hay and an Angus cow-calf herd. He has done custom swathing-baling for 15 years. They are members of Blaine County Cattlemen's Assn., and St. Anthony's Catholic Church.


Geary - 2002 Blaine County Farmer/Rancher of the Year
    award sponsored by First National Bank of Calumet

Ronald Phillips has farmed some 44 years. He currently farms with his brother and nephew and raises seed wheat to sell.

They raise wheat and alfalfa on 800 acres and Limousin and Angus cattle in a cow-calf operation. They utilize conservation tillage throughout their operation.

An OSU graduate in agriculture and a retired rural mail carrier, he serves on the boards for the Christian church and the Geary Community Nursing Home. Memberships include Oklahoma Wheat Growers Assn., Oklahoma Crop Improvement Assn., and Farm Bureau.


Canton - 2002 Blaine County Farmer/Rancher of the Year
    award sponsored by Chisholm Trail Farm Credit, Watonga

Paul Heath and his wife, Penny, a Canton High School teacher, have a daughter, Kayce Thompson, and a son, Justin. Paul has been engaged in farming and livestock production for the past 26 years. The Canton High School graduate attended OSU Tech.

Paul raises wheat and barley, sorghum silage and grass pasture as well as a Red Angus cow-calf herd and stock-feeders. The Heath's utilize no-till in their farming oeration. Currently Paul is a member of OFU, Oklahoma and Blaine County Cattlemen's Assn., and was in the Okahoma Agriculture Leadership Program Class X. He is also a member of the First Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge and Canton Ag Boosters.

He represented the Canton area as an OFU field agent last year and recently returned from a trip to New Zealand and Australia with the OALP Class X.
