630 FORESTRY
In this project, members can learn about the types of trees found in their area. They can also learn how we are dependent upon trees in our daily life.

- Function of a tree's parts
- Tree identification
- Why is a tree important
- How important are trees to the forest ecosystem
- What affects a tree's growth
What members can do: (Beginner level)
- Collect leaves
- Collect seeds from different trees
- Read about trees native to their area
- Visit various wood industries
- Read about the wildlife/forest/ecosystem
- Learn to identify 10 to 20 trees and how their wood can be used

- Learn to identify 20 to 40 trees native to their area

- Learn some management techniques of a forester

- Develop an imaginative advanced forestry project
- Develop a natural resource project utilizing multiple use management

- Learn to incorporate different forestry techniques into a management plan
- Develop and deliver presentations on natural resource management

Supporting materials: Project Learning Tree is a broad based curriculum that used trees as a window to other subjects. Leaders attend a 6-hour workshop to receive the materials.
