Carter County Jr. Livestock Show

The nomination date for steers and heifers to be shown in the 2007 Carter County Jr. Livestock Show has been set for Monday, October 30 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  This will be the only nomination date!  There will be no alternate nomination dates.

Nominations will be held this year at the Noble Foundation Pasture Demonstration Farm.  This is the same site you deliver steers for the carcass contest each spring.  The Noble Foundation people were kind enough to let us use their facilities, including scales and squeeze chute, so that we may avoid calves getting loose and/or the risk of getting someone unnecessarily hurt while tagging and leading cattle.

All steers and heifers that will be exhibited at the Carter County Jr. Livestock Show must be presented for nomination, including those already nominated for OKC.

Steers will be weighed, tagged and/or tattooed, and hair samples collected for DNA.  Nose prints may be taken as well.

Heifers will be tagged and/or tattooed  and hair samples collected for DNA.  Nose prints may be taken as well.

Oklahoma Youth Expo Nominations

All Oklahoma Youth Expo nominations will be a self-nomination, mail-in process this year.  There will be no nomination sites held for steers, sheep, and goats as there have been in the past.

Note
Instead of blood testing, DNA collection on all species will be done with hair samples.
