RULES AND REGULATIONS |
- Premiums offered herein are available only to regularly
enrolled 4-H and FFA members in Carter County and must be certified by the
Vo-Ag Instructors or Extension Agent.
- Show officials reserve final and absolute right to interpret rules
and regulations and arbitrarily settle and determine all matters,
questions or differences in regard thereof, or otherwise arising out of,
or connected with, or incident to the show.
- No claim for injury to any person shall be asserted or suit instituted
or maintained against the sponsor of the livestock show or its supporters.
- A protest fee of $100.00 covering eligibility must be filed in writing
with the superintendent of the respective department two hours prior to
judging.
- Each Exhibitor must at all times be able to control their animal to
assure the safety of all Exhibitors and the public. The
superintendent may at his discretion provide an assistant showman for any
exhibitor to assure the safety of all participants.

personally exhibit it, except in cases of illness or other unavoidable
reasons. In these cases, permission must be secured from the
superintendent of the respective division prior to judging.
Substitute must be an exhibitor of the same species and school. Each
exhibitor will be expected to furnish their own bedding. Stalls and
pens must be kept clean at all times.
- All animals must be pre-entered on or before official deadline.
Exhibitors may pre-enter 10 animals of each species with a $5.00 per head
pre-entry fee payable at time of entry. Animals may be pre-entered

upon completion of the Steer Show. Choice of sale animals will be
determined by sale order with Beef cattle taking preference over sheep,
goats, and swine.
- All breeds of meat goats will be shown together, divided into classes
by weight. 15% goats shown will make premium
sale.
- The number of premium sale animals shall be 30% hogs, 40% lambs, 80%
steers, 10 heifers. Judges in respective divisions will determine
premium sale order. An auction fee of $5.00 per animal will be

should leave after their show. Premiums will be pro-rated based on
the performance placing of the animal; $200.00 for each steer or each
heifer and $100.00 for each lamb, goat, or each swine that makes the
premium sale must be paid by, or on behalf of, the exhibitor. Those
not paying will have the respective amount deducted from their premium
check.
- Administration of a drug of any kind or description internally or
externally prior to entering the show ring, except for treating a
recognized disease or injury, is prohibited. For the purposes of
these rules, the term "drug" shall mean any substance, the sale,

All animals will be subject to tests. Exceptions: a sedative may be
administered to any animal with permission and supervision of the show
veterinary for safety purposes.

Show Ring Code of
Ethics |
Believing it is in the best interest of all breeders of all livestock to
maintain a reputation of integrity and to continue to present a wholesome
and progressive image in the sow ring, the following list of practices are
considered acceptable in the presentation of livestock. The use of
such practices or procedures is, therefore, considered a violation of the
Rules and Regulations governing this show.
|
- Misrepresenting the age of the animal for the class
in which it is shown.
- Treating or massing any part of the body internally or externally
with an irritant, counter-irritant, or other substance to temporarily
straighten a weak back or loin or to produce unnatural animation.
- Minimizing the effects of crampiness by feeding or injecting drugs,
depressants or applying packs or using any artificial contrivance or
therapeutic treatment exempting normal exercise.
- Striking the animal to cause swelling.
- Surgery or other procedure performed to change the natural process
of growth, maturation, contour or appearance of any animal, to include
teeth, is prohibited. Not included is removal of teats or horns,
clipping and dressing of hair and trimming of hooves.
- Insertion of foreign material under the skin.
- Any attempt to change natural color of an animal, either purebred or
crossbred, by changing the color or adding false hair, fleece or skin at
any point, spot or area of the animal's body.

drench.
- The practice of artificial filling by pumping or any other device
is prohibited.
- Administration of a drug of any kind or description, internally or
externally, prior to entering the show ring, except for treating a
recognized disease or injury and for tranquilizing bulls that may
otherwise be dangerous or females in heat. For the purpose of
these rules, the term "legal drug" shall mean any substance, the sale,
possession or use of which is controlled by license under federal, state
or local laws or regulations and any substance commonly used by the
medical or veterinary professions. The use of any chemical and/or
compound that is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration for
use in meat producing animals and the illegal use of approved chemicals
and/or compounds are prohibited. All animals shall be subject to
tests for foreign substances that exceed the acceptable levels
established by the United States Department of Agriculture, Food and
Drug Administration or the Environmental Protection Agency. A
positive test will result in disqualification, forfeiture of any
premiums and/or awards and will exclude the exhibitor from future
competition at the Oklahoma State Fair. All medications will be
administered by licensed veterinarians only.
- Balancing the udder by any abnormal means including the use of a
mechanical contrivance or injection of fluid or drugs. Setting the
teats and/or occluding (sealing the ends) with a mechanical contrivance
or with the use of a chemical preparation. Treating or massaging
the udder or its attachments with an irritant or counter-irritant.
The use of common products such as fly spray, ointment or liniment in
excess to the extent that it is irritating is included as an irritant
unless required to reduce edema at the time of calving.
- Criticizing or interfering with the judge, or other exhibitors,
breed representatives or show officials before, during or after the
event may result in an individual or group being expelled, placed on
probation, declared ineligible or barred from exhibiting at the event.
|
Any violation of the Rules and Regulations specifically
designed for the individual shows or the "Show Ring Code of Ethics" may
result in forfeiture of all premiums and awards, disqualification, expulsion
or probation of the exhibitor, organized group, and individual or livestock
involved. Probation, disqualification, expulsion or other disciplinary
action of the Management will be final. Such action will require
application for readmission under such terms as the Management may prescribe
before the group or individual is allowed to exhibit at future events.
Violations at this show may affect the eligibility of the individual, group,
or sponsoring organization for participation at other shows that are also
members of these organizations. The names of anyone in violation will
be released to these other Fairs and Expositions. |
