DRESS REVUE/CONSTRUCTION GUIDELINES

 

 

The objective of the 4-H Dress revue is to help 4-H youth:

 

A.     Develop leadership abilities by demonstrating maturity, dependability, and responsibility;

 

B.     Exhibit skill in selecting appropriate fabric, patterns, and notions in order to construct a garment which meets high quality standards;

 

C.     Become aware of appropriate accessories, good posture and grooming habits and to use that knowledge to display poise and neatness in appearance.

 

1.      Dress Revue participants will receive two scores:

                        Construction evaluation - 65%              Modeling evaluation - 35%

(Score determined from style show modeling.)

 

2.      Participants may wear accessories, such as hand-made or ready-to-wear sweaters and blouses, when they are part of a two or three piece suit.

 

3.      Participants should enter only garments, which will be worn in the competition.  For example, a delegate may enter a blazer and pants or skirt, NOT a blazer, pants and skirt.

 

4.      All pieces entered in competition must be fully visible during modeling to receive a score from the judge.

 

5.      All Dress Revue participants need to bring clothes to wear after the Style Show modeling due to your Dress Revue entries being turned in for construction judging off your body!

Intermediate

Participants receive two scores for Dress Revue: Construction -up to 65%; Modeling -up to 35%.

            ** Label the parts of the sewing machine

            ** Illustrate and label up to 10 items needed in a basic sewing kit

11.  Decorated, ready-made shirt, using fusible web, fabric scraps, trims, buttons or paints  (Paints may be used in addition to one or more of the above.)
